The Ohio State University Campus Bikeways Sub-District Plan

  • Comprehensive bikeways plan provides for casual recreational riders and commuters on a variety of facilities on this dense, urban campus
  • Plan establishes a long-term framework to bring needs of bicyclists into the decision making and capital budgeting processes of the campus community
  • Planning process yielded a common vision among the diverse campus constituents, local bicycle groups, the City of Columbus, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and general public
  • Establishes a hierarchy of campus bike routes that include dedicated bike paths, painted bike lanes and signed bike routes
  • Addresses end-of-trip facilities and provides clear connections between adjacent city and regional routes
  • Phase I implementation began early 2008
